She raises her eyebrows. She smiles without showing teeth. She suppresses her smile, dropping her head. She displays incongruent mirroring. She uses palm-up gestures. The Fire is designed primarily as a Media consumption expedient which runs on a modified version of the Android Os. Does the Kindle Fire have what it takes to scorch the competition in the Tablet world and be the tablet to beat or does it fall short? Read on to find out.

Features of the Kindle Fire

7 inch color (Ips) touch Screen (1024 x 6000 display resolution) 8Gb internal storage memory 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity Amazon Cloud for unlimited storage of article Lightweight, weighs just 413 grams A singular charge provides up to 8 hours of usage Headphone jack, built-in stereo speakers Free 1 month trial of Amazon Prime

Design

The Kindle Fire bears a strong resemblance to the BlackBerry PlayBook in terms of the weight and feel of the device. The establish itself is very streamlined, including just a Power button on the unit. With its relatively small dimensions of 7.5 x 4.7 x 0.45 inches, the Fire is small enough to fit in a reasonably sized pocket or be held one-handed.

Display

The 7-inch multi-touch display with Ips (in plane switching) provides a maximum resolution of 1024 x 600 at 16 million colors. The Isp technology used provides an perfect range of viewing angles, allowing the display to be viewed at 178° and greater.

Despite having a lower resolution than the iPad, text on the Fire's display looks crisp and sharp. The display doesn't use e-Ink technology though however, so if you want a Kindle primarily for reading I propose one of the earlier models which feature an e-Ink display to minimize eye strain over extended periods.

Connectivity

The Fire isn't too strong on the connectivity front. There is support for Wi-Fi, but no support for Bluetooth, 3G or Gps. The headphone jack is very handy for when you want to watch movies or listen to music in private.

User-interface

Amazon has taken a leaf from Apple's Book and opted for simplicity when designing the Fire. The user-interface is very uncomplicated and provides easy sailing via the touch Screen. There is a screen to flip through all your digital article plus an icon tray to store your favourite items.

Final Thoughts

When all is said and done, the Kindle Fire isn't an iPad killer, but it sure packs a punch with its spec and is a great entry for Amazon into the tablet market. The lack of cameras, extra internal storage options and 3G connectivity will be off-putting to some population who are after a full-fLEDged tablet experience, but for many who are after a pure Media consumption device, what the Fire delivers will suffice.

The low price point of the Fire and its media capabilities are hugely appealing, manufacture it worth serious notice for whatever concerned in enjoying media on the move.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Versus The iPhone 4S - Flagship Smartphones Head To Head

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Versus The iPhone 4S - Flagship Smartphones Head To Head

Apple has recently launched their new flagship smartphone the iPhone 4S. With the smartphone market flooded with high end devices, how does it stack up against the gift of other major Players such as Samsung? In this article, I will attempt to find out by pitting the iPhone 4S against the Samsung Galaxy S2.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has proven to be a very popular device, as was the traditional Galaxy S. In fact, the Galaxy S2 was recently crowned "Phone of the Year" by machine magazine T3. This is no mean feat, considering the fact that it faced competition from impressive some devices, with the Motorola Atrix, Htc Sensation, Htc imaginable S and Apple iPhone 4 all manufacture the shortlist. The Samsung Galaxy S2 came out on top for a amount of reasons.

The handset boasts all the bells and whistles of a high-end Android gismo in terms of software, with access to Android market and the Samsung TouchWiz Ui. Hardware wise, the gismo is impressive in pretty much every aspect. To provide all the requisite computing Power to hardware and software alike, there is a 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor which aids many aspects of the phones performance, ranging from response times of the Screen, multitasking, web browsing and many more. The camera boasts 8 megapixels, with 1080p video capture and comes with an LED flash along with a thorough package of adjustable settings and image enhancing features. The Screen is also another impressive feature of the Galaxy S2. It is large, measuring 4.3 inches, with a pixel resolution of 480x 800. With Super AmoLED capacitive Plus touchscreen technology, it is responsive, and it is noted for its capability to offer great display capability when in direct sunlight. The handset itself is very slim, at 8.5mm, and weighs just 116 grams.

The iPhone 4S is similar in many respects to the Samsung Galaxy S2, on paper at least. Software wise, the major divergence is in the operating system, with iOs running the intuitive and customisable interface. There are many aspects of the hardware which are similar; the camera is 8 megapixels, with 1080p video just like the Samsung device. Any way Apple claims that the camera on the new iPhone has many unique features such as the lens technology and the speed at which the camera operates. The latter is thanks largely to the processor, which is a 1 Ghz dual-core Apple A4 processor. Whilst this is slightly less than the 1.2 Ghz offered by the Samsung, it will hardly be noticeable during day to day use. One of Apple's advantages over the competition is its Multimedia ecosystem, which allows iPhones to couple with iTunes, iPod and AppStore. Whilst the likes of the Android market are impressive, and unquestionably catching up with Apple, it has to be said that the AppStore is excellent in terms of both capability and quantity of available Apps. The iPhone 4S has another advantage over the Samsung Galaxy S2; the fact that it is new. Therefore, Apple has had more time to include its latest technology in the handset. The new Siri and iCloud features are good examples of this, and it gives Apple the edge as this kind of technology was not around when the Samsung Galaxy S2 was released.

Choosing between the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S2 is a close call. Technically, it would be rather unfair to say that one is good than the other. As the manufacturer's flagship phones, each has its own strengths and weaknesses. I believe that the ultimate deciding factor would be down to the individual's preference for whether Android or iOs, but having said that, Apple may have the edge thanks to its all new features like Siri and iCloud, as Samsung currently has nothing similar to offer.
